Notice to Individuals Served by a Service Line of Unknown Material
The City sent out notices to a small number of residents from Bolton & Menk titled Notice to Individuals Served by a Service Line of Unknown Material.
Question: “Why did I receive this letter when I already sent in my inspection form?”, or “Why did I receive this letter when I already had an appointment to inspect my water service?”
Response:
For the required city-wide water service inventory, the MN Dept. of Health requires the material type for both the “customer side” from the curb stop to the home, and for the “utility side” from the curb stop to the main in the street. They then require a letter to be sent to every property owner with an “unknown” designation for either of these. Therefore, if you have previously completed an inspection or sent in the self-inspection form, this only covers the “customer side” of your water service. The language in the letter, of which is required by the MN Dept. of Health as well, doesn’t clarify this very well.
